We offer a drop-off camp for individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities. We are able to serve clients with varied types of disabilities and multiple diagnosis

Where

This camp is located at the Twisted Roots Studio at 1264 West 15th Street, San Pedro, Ca, 90731.

We have a dedicated art studio and fully equipped kitchen, restroom and large outdoor space.

There is a garden area, potting station, rainwater collection set-up and a food composting bin. Additionally, there is a big patio with tables, chairs and umbrellas where students have lunch and socialize. Please email us to set-up a tour of the facility today!

When

This drop off program is offered every Tuesday and Thursday. Students are dropped off at 10 am and camp runs until 2 pm. An earlier pick-up option is available for students needing to be picked up before 2pm. Late pick up is optional only on certain days.

What

This is an art-based camp that explores watercolors, clay, mosaics, collage making, mixed media with an emphasis on self-expression. This camp also focuses on emotional regulation and strengthens attention and task completion via sensory-rich materials, movement and music. Camp takes day trips to local stores to work on socialization and community engagement. Students will visit local parks, and nature preserves to engage in fitness and to observe the natural world.

What to Bring to Camp

Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you can play and make art in. While we use washable materials, things can stain, please dress accordingly. We often go on nature walks and all students and staff are encouraged to a wear hat and sunscreen. PLEASE pack a lunch each day of camp. Snacks and filtered water are provided.

Cooking with Friends

These cooking classes are designed to teach valuable life skills, like independence, creativity & healthy eating habits. Students are taught the fundamentals of cooking like measuring, stirring, peeling, chopping, mixing, cooking, baking and cleaning up.

This class focuses on proper handwashing, keeping your cooking space clean, reading and following a recipe, healthy food choices and portion control.

All ingredients are provided and each student will have hands-on experience making a dish during class. While we cannot accommodate every food allergy, we make accommodations as needed.
